Hand Knotted Malas

Malas originated in India as a way to guide meditation and have become popular as necklaces. The traditional number of 108 gemstone beads are individually hand knotted on silk cord then joined by unique grounding stones or focal beads. Each has a unique energy for the wearer.

Why 108 beads?

There are multiple opinions as to why there are 108 beads on the Mala necklace:

· 108 is an auspicious number

· There are 108 energy lines leading to the heart chakra

· In the Sanskrit alphabet there are 54 female and 54 male characters
